“Late Night” host Seth Meyers last night took a “Closer Look” at GOP nominee Donald Trump’s bizarre self-congratulatory response to Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando.
Trump revoked press credentials from the Washington Post this week after it reported that, in a Fox News interview, he “seemed” to suggest President Obama sympathized with terrorists.
Given an opportunity to explain his comments in an interview with right-wing radio host Howie Carr, Trump instead said, “I’ll let people figure that out for themselves.”
“The worst part about Trump’s campaign is not that he says crazy shit, but that he expects us to figure out the crazy shit that he says,” Meyers said. “Listening to Trump is like opening up a fortune cookie.”
“But Trump’s vague innuendo is no accident,” he continued. “This is a strategy he uses to try to appeal to the outer fringes while also avoiding accountability.”
