The starch is converted into sugar
When you start to chew bread, the enzymes in the saliva immediately begins to convert the starch into sugar. The situation is similar with pasta. In addition, pieces of snacks like chips may remain stuck between the teeth and also cause bacteria in the oral cavity.
Avoid having dry mouth
Beverages containing alcohol reduce the creation of saliva that cleans teeth from food debris and harmful acids and thus irritate the gums. Also, dry mouth increases the risk of occurrence of diseases. The proper flow of saliva activates the process of digestion, washes the food particles, removes bacteria and protects against irritation and infection of the soft tissues. Drinks that contain caffeine, like tea, coffee and energy drinks can also dry out the mouth.
Reduce carbonated drinks
Dental live bacteria that feed on sugar and soft drinks are packed with sugar. Besides sugar, soft drinks contain phosphoric and citric acid which soften the enamel, promote collapse of the teeth and increase the risk of caries.
