Delicious, dairy free chocolate cake

I am not much of a baker, but every now and then when I am perusing recipes I come across a baking recipe that looks like something I might want to try. This one intrigued me because it seems weird to think of a cake with no eggs, milk, or butter in it. How can still be delicious? How can it be moist? I also love the fact that you mix all the ingredients right there in the pan, and you dont need a mixer. Anything that results in less dishes for me to wash is a good thing. The first time I tried it, I was actually blown away. I read that these were created during the Great Depression, it is amazing what we can figure out in hard times. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention. And yes, I consider cake a need! We have made them with a simple chocolate icing, we have served them plain with ice cream, or with just a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top. It is delicious anyway you serve it.
