Teufel’s cake first became popular after she published a video of the creation to her Twitter web page. The movie was quick to go viral, growing the woman page to 65K supporters and inspiring a trend inside baking world.

“I was provided a number of bits of inspiration to draw some ideas from, including real geodes, an attractive illustration and many different dining table design things like plates, chargers and geometric floral plans,” Teufel explained to The Huffington article. “we knew i needed to generate a show-stopping dessert and use the geode whilst the focal point, producing an awe-inspiring aesthetic knowledge when it comes to visitors.”
