Marvel Heroes 2015 unveils Ant-Man and 6 other playable characters at Comic Con

Gazillion gives us our first look at new characters like Ant-Man and War Machine, while putting the identity of the latest confirmed addition in the hands of the players.

Near the end of last year, the wildly popular MMORPG Marvel Heroes 2015 announced the Advance Pack 2, featuring a star-studded lineup of all-new playable characters to be released gradually throughout the year. So far, the roster has given us the Winter Soldier, Iceman, She-Hulk, Vision, and the primary antagonist himself, Dr. Doom. Developer Gazillion joined Marvel at San Diego Comic Con to clue us in on future upcoming characters.

While he wasn’t listed as a part of Advance Pack 2, Ant-Man will lead the charge into the second half of 2015. This addition is available now for pre-order, just in time for the character’s feature film release starring Paul Rudd.

From what we’ve seen of his gamplay, Ant-Man will have three types of abilities at his disposal. The first, “Particle Brawling,” capitalizes on his varying size. Shrink down to land quick, powerful blows or grow to titanic proportions and crush your enemies like a bug. Equipment-based moves can utilize technology like bio-electric blasting “stingers,” or call on “Friends in Low Places” by summoning 10,000 ants. Finally, we have the “Insect Constructs” category. What are you constructing exactly? Use your imagination. Have you ever thought about punching your enemies in the face with a giant fist made of ants? Well, I bet you’re thinking about it now.

Gazillion will follow this up with War Machine, Tony Stark’s closest ally and recurring character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the suit was originally built by Stark, Gazilion promises that Rhodey’s personal upgrades will make War Machine’s gameplay differ greatly from Iron Man’s. How it will differ remains to be seen. Machine guns are cool though, so let’s keep an open mind.

Heroes 51 through 54 shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, as Blade, Kitty Pryde, Iron Fist, and Black Cat had already been confirmed in the Advance Pack 2 announcement. Lucky number 55, however, remains a mystery.

Gazillion has opened up a poll to registered players on their official site to choose the 7th playable hero. Our options include Wasp, Magik, Nick Fury, Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel, Green Goblin, or Miles Morales’s Spider-Man. Whoever wins will make it into the game. Eventually. If your favorite doesn’t come out on top though, don’t fret. Gazilion has confirmed that the poll losers aren’t completely out of the running and are being individually considered for future Advance Packs.

Marvel Heroes 2015 is free-to-play and available now for Windows and Mac.
