Turmerics health benefits are numerous. It has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, strong antioxidant, fights depression, natural heart healer, brain function and memory improver. Also, studies have shown that one of the compounds in turmeric also may help prevent Alzheimers disease.
Health benefits aside, its also one of the prettiest spices around. I always keep a jar on hand to throw into rice dishes, chicken dishes and now my breakfast smoothie.
Turmeric pairs amazingly with citrus, and this smoothie is perfect for when youre running out the door ready to face the day.
Turmeric Citrus Drink
Makes 2 drinks.
Ingredients:
1 cup orange juice
12 cup water
2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
2 lemons, juiced
1 orange, juiced
1 carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
1 Granny Smith apple, cored and roughly chopped
2 teaspoons turmeric
14 inch grated ginger
12 teaspoon kosher salt
Mint, for garnish
Instructions:
Place all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
Garnish with mint.
